What to Expect

Welcome to Word of Hope

We hope that your first visit to Word of Hope will be a great experience – a place to meet the God who loves you and some people who will love to meet you. This page is your source for answers to commonly asked questions about visiting our church. If you don’t find what you are looking for here, please give us a call at (859) 272-8515.

What do I wear?

No matter whether you attend the 8:15 or 10:45 worship service, you’re welcome to dress as casually or as formally as you prefer. Most worshipers will be wearing anywhere from shorts and jeans to business casual. Please dress comfortably. We say “come as you are.” We don’t want you to worry about what you will wear, we just want you to come and experience God’s love.

Can I take Holy Communion?

Because we need to feel God’s grace and forgiveness in our lives as often as possible, Word of Hope celebrates Holy Communion every Sunday at each worship service and all baptized Christians are welcome to share this meal with us. Both wine (red) and grape juice (white) are served. Gluten free wafers are available upon request. We believe God sets the table for the sacrament and that it’s our job and our joy to give it away on God’s behalf.

What about our children?

We love having our children of all ages in worship with us. It is great to hear them during the service and be reminded of Jesus’ command of “Let the little children come.”

What type of worship services do you have?

9:30 Joint Worship (Blended Service)

Worship during this liturgical service is led by a praise band and projected on a screen. This is considered a blended service containing both traditional hymns and contemporary worship. Music ranges from old hymn and gospel favorites to modern day Christian songs heard on today’s radio.

Healing Services

When there is a fifth Sunday in a month, we have a healing service on that day. Special healing liturgy is used for this service. People are welcome to come forward for a blessing and/or light a candle in remembrance of someone or something. We believe that God’s healing grace is an important gift to celebrate.

We offer two different worship services each Sunday morning. Our 8:15am Service is quiet, meditative & traditional while the 10:45 Service is more contemporary with a range of instruments and contemporary music.

We invite you to join us for Coffee & Conversation in the between the services time at 9:30am. Our Senior High and Middle School Youth meet each Sunday for casual conversation and also have regular monthly youth activities. We offer Children's Christian Education for all ages from September-May.
